Autumn Golf Paradise in Marbella – A Personal Insight
As autumn makes its entrance in Sweden with shorter days and cooler winds, the Costa del Sol opens its green fairways for a new season of golf. For us Scandinavians, this is the time of year when the sun still warms, but the climate is absolutely perfect for spending hours out on the course. And if there is one place that truly deserves to be called a golf paradise, it’s Marbella, and above all, the Nueva Andalucía area.
Here, just minutes from the city’s beaches and lively restaurants, you will find three of the most iconic golf courses in all of Spain: Real Club de Golf Las Brisas, Aloha Golf Club, and Los Naranjos Golf Club.
Las Brisas – Elegance and History
Las Brisas is one of the most classic courses on the Costa del Sol. Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr., it combines challenging holes with beautiful landscapes filled with tropical plants and lakes. Playing here feels almost like a journey through a botanical garden – and it’s no coincidence that many international tournaments have been held on this very course. For the Swedish golfer seeking a sophisticated experience with world-class facilities, Las Brisas is an obvious choice.
Aloha Golf – Atmosphere and Community
Right next door is Aloha Golf Club, a course often described as the heart of Nueva Andalucía. Here, challenging holes are mixed with a warm and welcoming club atmosphere. Many Scandinavians have already found their way here, and you often hear Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish voices in the clubhouse. Aloha is known for its social vibe – it’s a place where you can both enjoy the game and forge new connections.
Los Naranjos – Scandinavian Heart
Los Naranjos is perhaps the course where most Swedes feel truly at home. The club boasts a strong Scandinavian presence, and many Swedes are already members. The course design is forgiving yet still offers plenty of challenges for players of all levels. The clubhouse, with its lively restaurant and terrace, is a natural meeting place after a round. This is where you really feel how Marbella has become a natural extension of the Swedish golf season.

Autumn = Golf Season on the Costa del Sol
It’s now, in September and October, that the golf season truly blossoms on the Costa del Sol. Temperatures hover around a comfortable 22∘C–26∘C (72∘F–79∘F), the evenings are warm, and the courses are in their absolute best condition after the summer rest. For many Swedes, this is the perfect time to extend summer and improve their handicap at the same time.
My Personal Reflection
After over 20 years on the Costa del Sol, I’ve seen Marbella develop into an international golf metropolis. Every time I stand on a tee in Nueva Andalucía and look out over the mountains, the palm trees, and the glittering Mediterranean, I understand why so many Scandinavians choose to travel here—not just for vacation, but also to invest in a home. For many of my clients, the proximity to these golf courses is a crucial factor when they are searching for a property.
The Costa del Sol is not just about the sun and the beaches. It’s a way of life—where golf is a natural part of daily living. And right now, as autumn begins back home in Sweden, Marbella is the place where the season truly takes off.
